In collaboration with Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, Alternatives Federal Credit Union proudly offers the TransAction Financial Empowerment Program, a pioneering initiative in the U.S. designed specifically to support and empower transgender and non-binary individuals.
Program Overview
The TransAction Program provides affordable financial solutions to support gender-affirming processes such as hormone therapy, vocal coaching, wardrobe updates, legal documentation changes, and surgical procedures. Our goal is to offer these services without the need to resort to high-interest credit options or predatory lending.
Loan Options
- A personal loan for one-time expenses related to gender-affirming surgeries and associated costs (i.e. travel and lodging) as well as transition-related clothing and vocal training.
- Up to $20,000 with a reduced interest rate.
- A line of credit to supports ongoing transition-related care and expenses, including medical care, medication, emotional support, transportation, and more.
- Up to $20,000 with a reduced interest rate.
Application Requirements:
- A referral from a medical professional is necessary to apply. For assurance of privacy, this letter does not require disclosure of detailed medical care.
- Contact your medical care professional or Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (Ithaca office) for a referral letter and details about required documents.
