More About the Community Tax Program
Alternatives' Community Tax Program has been offering free tax preparation services since 2003. To date we've prepared over 10,000 tax returns for working families and individuals and returned over $18 million in refunds to our local community.
Our goal is to help all eligible workers claim the credits they deserve (without paying high fees) and to help them turn those refunds into financial assets.
To help us spread the word, see our outreach page.
Free Tax Prep is supported by the Internal Revenue Service, Tompkins County Legislature, Community Foundation of Tompkins County's "2-year grants, Magnified Results (through the generosity of The Community Impact Fund of The Community Foundation and The Community Foundation's Tompkins Today and Tomorrow Fund), the Empire Justice Center, New York Credit Union Foundation, UAW Local 2300, United Way-Youth and Philanthropy Program, and gifts to Alternatives Impact, the 501(c)3 affiliate of Alternatives FCU.
