MEMBER PROFILE
Christi Boothe and Lynette Grider, Satori Day Spa & Salon

We've been best friends for many years, and we both have a background being stylists. We both dreamed of creating a salon where the services resonate in your life long after you've left the salon. We wanted to incorporate high quality products with the best the industry has to offer.

About Alternatives
Alternatives is an innovative CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) that offers a unique combination of financial and community development services. Chartered in 1979, Alternatives has a successful record serving micro-enterprise, non-profits and the low-income population of Tompkins County, New York.

Alternatives Credit Union is an interesting and pleasant place to work; big enough to offer all the benefits one would expect to find in this industry, yet still of a size that keeps all employees involved in the Credit Union's successes on a personal level. We have a participatory staffing structure with full staff meetings at least twice a month. Communication is enhanced by departmental meetings. Staff participates in decisions that affect their work place. Our broad job descriptions offer each staff person greater latitude to develop, and we back that development with a policy of promoting from within. Every staff member is encouraged to serve on a community board and receives compensation from the Credit Union for doing so.

First Year Benefits

  • 18 Days Paid Time Off after a 3 month introductory period
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Group Life Insurance
  • Individual Health Insurance (75% Employer Paid) with Family Health Insurance Option
  • Dental Insurance
  • Long Term Disability
  • Employee Assistance Program

Location
Alternatives is located in Ithaca, NY, known for its quality of life. Surrounded by beautiful state parks famous for their gorges and waterfalls, Ithaca is a small city with cultural offerings of a big city, largely due to Cornell University and Ithaca College.
